I must be missing something, so I'd be pleased if someone can tell me specifically where the charity money goes. There's hundreds of $ millions raised already.
- if your house burns down, you have an insurance payout to rebuild or buy again. Some won't be insured, but this expense is Covered.
- where services (water, electricity, sewrage, telco) are destroyed, the companies and/or government pay for the rebuild. Covered.
- if commercial property is destroyed, private enterprise and/or government pay to rebuild (if they choose). Covered.
- most burned animals will die. Not many would survive and be needing vert treatment. Probably some need here but I can't find figures.
- fire services and emergency services are already well funded (from what I hear). Covered.
So I'm thinking the money would mostly go to two things: 1) business owners who won't be able to generate revenue, and 2) temporary accomodation.
What am I missing?

Like all "other peoples money" (tax and donations) at least 50% will be wasted. Either way, one can only hope that all of it filters through the wider Australian economy - one way or another.
