People have a hard time picking the direction of NWS at the best of times. I won't make a call but here's some factors to consider.

Yesterday the last of NWS's weighting in the Australian indices was removed, bringing on selling by index funds and the like. This could potentially carry on for a few days.

Rupert Murdoch has decided to extend the "poison pill" defense against takeover, indicating that negotiations with John Malone are not progressing well.

This and the recent departure of Lachlan Murdoch have been a timely reminder of just how much NWS's future is pegged to the whims of a single family.

The US market itself may be entering a secondary correction. Friday saw a huge fall in the price of oil, however the US market still ended in the red.

The US dollar is falling. A flat NWS share price in the US would still lead to declines in the Aus listing due to currency movement.
