Hi Olive,
This Chinguetti is comfortable in Tokyo after a night of beer and sake with my collegues. The other Chinguetti is waiting to spurt out oil at $60 a barrel. I've been shouting the rounds for 3 years, now it is time for payback from Mauritania. I look forward to my first dividend ;-)
Let's be honest, it is somewhat surprising and shocking that after 3 years of drilling the best result was the first drill - Chinguetti. If HDR had drilled any of the other dozen prospects first they may not have survived. We were lucky. I've still kept a large shareholding, and Tiof, Uganda, Faulkands and Guyanne are enought to keep me loyal for a few more years, but I can't hide my disappointment with the results of 2005. Mauritania might still make us rich, but we won't live like Saudi Arabian shieks. I'll be content with a fibro shack in Botany.
