the Senate is "controlled" by the Coalition through the democratic process.
whatever laws good or bad which are passed are done so by the majority wish of Australians.
on policy backflips or changes of opinions.

why don't you suggest for example Political parties be subject to a "policy charter"
whereby the leaders of the party can be jailed for the lie/fraud?
its too easy for either side to over promise and under deliver.
and what is sadder is that we allow it.
IF....Rudd wins on November 24th.......it will be at the wish of the Australian people and we have to respect that.

YET i will admit the public are pretty dumb.....Carr handed to Iemma in NSW (which is a basket case) and the public thought Iemma was a leader of a new party.
