It took 17 outside lawyers for Novartis plus their internal counsel to finalise the initial agreement in Nov. - part of that prep would have been how to extricate itself should they choose to do so - so that would be the easy part - the bit that takes the time is negotiating the final terms.
My take on it is if they were leaving they'd have just pulled the fire alarm that they'd built into the initial deal and bailed with a press release, the fact that we haven't heard from them is IMHO positive for an ongoing agreement.
