I've been in the heavy construction industry for 14 years and always been in the union (very reluctantly the past 5 years for fears of thuggery). Every Union meeting I have been to in the past 10 years the AWU has always taken the bosses stance. I remember vividly a meeting with the whole site of 700 workers (of which only 6 were AWU members such is the hatred for them in the industry). The AWU organiser stood up in front of the rowdy bunch and proceeded to tell everyone to grow up and back the company and go back to work! Thought I would witness my first murder that day such was the hatred being thrown at this guy. We all know why now! To line their own pockets!
