Depends on what type of lifestyle you (and your partner) are seeking and the level of spending power that you have.
Some retire to Queensland. South QLD is very different from Far North QLD.
Some retire to coastal areas (this has pushed prices up a lot).
Some retire to rural areas but found it hard to adjust to the lack of 'pace' and activities.
Some retire to "other countries".
Some don't want to move too far from family members. It takes four hours to fly to Perth.
Why not travel and live in different places for a while before deciding?
