If you wanted to generate the same output as AVL you would have to dig out over 3Mt a year. Not sure about strip ratios but thats a lot of earth movement. Higher opex.
Means you have to put more material through the front end. Higher opex.
Means you need a much larger plant for stage 1 processing. Higher capex.
But the reality is at the end of the day anyone who thinks something like LTR can get funded and be economical should rationally think AVL/TMT are foregone conclusions.
Who wants to put up say 700-800m capex for $5-6 opex when you can put up half that for $4 opex as a hypothetical?
