The politics in this is rank from all concerned.

Labor Government was slow to identify the problem of the leap in migration (it's on their watch) and then implemented a solution that's prone to politicisation. A minister setting the caps without independent oversight is a horrible precedent.
LNP created the migration boost by creating all manner and number of visas post pandemic to aid the recovery and then sought to score political points. They're now highly critical of the impacts of the bill (while simultaneously supporting caps and offering not a single change to the legislation, quietly saying they'd go harder by making the 2025 limit 160,000 instead of 270,000)
Greens just wanting a continuation of open slather and wishing the problem away.
The Group of 8 abrogating any responsibility for the impacts on local students and the educational experience (their ranks having been overtaken by management consultants and a constant push for more revenue).

Their collective indifference to the impacts of their COMBINED failures is the one thing they all have in common. They should all be ashamed.
