I assume, perhaps naively, that they would have to report to the market if the financial situation was looking different. So am inclined to hold.

I'd call that youthful exuberance. I would think you are correct re disclosure rules and I was just reflecting my shock at the share price. It's been a protracted decay for sure, especially if the price is being propped up by share buy backs
