Regarding too much in assets for pension then there is the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card which is available for pension age and is based on income rather than assets. The benefits are very similar except no payout from the govt. Unfortunately a lot of people dont know about it which is a pity because can still save a lot of money on scripts , xrays, doctor bills, car rego etc. Due to LTR, PLS CXO etc I also no longer qualify for age pension but still get lots of benefits for the other card.
