Just look at our current trade deficit and the role petroleum & petroleum products play.
While we dream ( and do bugger all else) about a solar world,) we'll go broke.
What solar pundits dont realise that for countries like Saudi Arabia & Russia
oil can be profitably pumped out of the ground at less than $10/bbl.
Should renewables put pressure on oil, oil rich nations will simply drop the price
and cater to 90% of the market who are not OECD countries.
Its fine and dandy to say that we should bat above out weight but in the 21stC
that may be wishful thinking, IMO.
If Australia really thinks that Solar is the Gig of the future , then why did we close down all
our local solar panel manufacturers. Move from importing oil to importing Solar Panels eh?
Ah we're dab hands at spruiking but bollocks at doing!
