Why not just phone the Perth Mint on 0894217409 and buy it - either physical or in certificate form. Either or both are easy to re-sell. If you want to buy silver in less than $5000 lots just ask to buy it under the Perth Mint Shop Programme. I have found them very easy to deal with and have not had a problem with either physical or certificates. The other option for gold would be to buy it via share trade symbol ZAUWBA (am I being too obvious here)
The actual weight of gold in a sovereign is so close to 1/4 oz that it makes no difference. Four sovereigns are considered to be 1oz pure gold. Watch the premiums! And buy with caution
