Definitely take some aussie dollars and convert at an exchange booth away from the resort. Just watch for a slide of hand and know how much your changing before you give your aussie over, and dont be in a hurry- count it out before slipping into your pocket. I have recieved at least 10% extra $ as opposed to exchanging here- even when you know someone who works for a bank.
