2248 GMT - A UBS survey of 1,000 Australian consumers has good news for Flight Centre, Webjet and Wesfarmers. Although overall travel intentions were a touch lower in the near term, local travel companies Flight Centre and Webjet appeared to be winning market share, UBS says. UBS also found that hardware spending remained resilient despite soft housing activity, which bodes well for Wesfarmers-owned hardware chain Bunnings. In general, the investment bank finds households are feeling wealthier, which should be positive for the longer-term travel industry. ([email protected]; @Mike_Cherney)
