Also note that the gradient of the seabed is 1:1000 heading west.
That means that over a distance of one kilometre, the fall is only one metre.
It means that a dyke can be built without much trouble and mining take place within the sealed off area. I would imagine that they will mine areas sequentially then reinstate so as to minimise disturbance to those prawns.
Water depth is <5m over much of the areas, with minimal tidal influence of 0.8-1.2m.
