Whilst I have been a long term holder of ASL my concern for the half year is the need to recognize the impact of the decline in the $A on the $US denominated borrowings of $US 300 million. This will be partly offset by higher earnings from Africa.
The impairment is only a book entry and does not impact cash. I cant see where ASL has hedged currency. Something I would have thought essential if you borrow in #US.
