Parents usually think of early learning as operating on a similar timetable to formal schooling. As the year progresses, family routine is established and very few parents would consider changing centres at this time of year.

Good centres very rarely experience seasonal occupancy. Second half of the year occupancy increases, would mostly come from within the centre. Children start attending 'school readiness' programs at the local school at this time of year and mum notices that little Johnny can't sit still and can't share with his friends. Solution = more days needed at day care, because he has to go to school the following year. Staff would or should be encouraging a minimum of three days of early education for the majority of children going to school and this would lead to reducing vacancies.

Advertising should be unfaltering, through educating their community about the importance and value of early education and care, that's their product and they need to believe in it and they need to promote it. IMO advertising vacancies for 2018, at this time of year is sending the wrong message to those considering care with G8 in 2019.

@Frankhope we won't see the effect of the CCS on vacancies until 2019.

IMO, their vacancy rate currently, is decreasing. I see the future appointment of a Head of Early Education and Learning as a very positive step for G8 albeit something that should have been implemented years ago.

Interested to note that Goodstart have bought the freehold of a few of their centres.
