As our resource has been proved, current Reserves at Roche Dure only are standing at 220Mt which support 44 years mining life at 5mtpa or 22 years at 10mtpa.

Compared with any ASX lithium stocks including other African lithium products, AVZ is still heavily discounted to peers valuation. AVZ is currently priced at 98% discount based on ALB (MIN) & WES (KDR) deals.
Due to Manono over 200m thickness, high grade and extremely low strip ratio(0.7:1), should provide very good economic benefits, imo.
I agreed with Deboss’ HTO speculation, as I posted before, Huayou was a small company, they invested in DRC and betted for cobalt, then became a multi billion company. They have a vision to become “Global leader of lithium battery materials”. Recently they invested further USD$147m in DRC, and set up a US$1.3b JV to invest in nickel (Huayou to invest USD$734m).
Lithium batteries are currently shifting to high nickel & low cobalt. However, next generation, solid state lithium batteries (more safer, high energy density are coming in next few years).
“Electric cars will soon cost the same to own as petrol ones – dearer to buy, cheaper to run. But range will still be a bit less and charging a bit slower. So people go looking for game-changers in those fields.
Solid-state batteries get a lot of airtime. Small wonder. They replace the wet electrolyte in today’s lithium-ion batteries with a solid. Because they’re simpler they could be a lot cheaper, and lighter, and they won’t need liquid cooling. They should also be longer-lasting and fireproof. Possibly much faster-charging too – provided you can find an outlet much more powerful than the 350kW top-end jobs of today.”
Also, Battery500 is developing Lithium Air batteries which should be the generation after the solid state one as it usually takes decades for a new generation of battery to mass production.
Ups And Downs For Li-Air Energy Storage
Toyota crossed the CleanTechnica energy storage radar back in 2013, when it entered into an energy storage collaboration with BMW and predicted that solid state and Li-air batteries would happen by 2020.
That same year Reuters reported that IBM was working on a Li-air battery with a EV range of 500 miles on a single charge.
If that rings a bell, you may be recalling IBM’s “Battery500” project for Li-air energy storage technology, which kicked off all the way back in 2009.
By 2014 IBM and its partners in the Obama Administration lost enthusiasm for Li-air, and Battery500 was rebooted in 2016 as a US Energy Department initiative focusing on lithium-metal technology.
Li-Air batteries are better than the Li-Ion batteries used in most EVs today because they breathe in air from the atmosphere for use as an active material in the battery, which greatly decreases its weight. Li-Air batteries also store nearly 700% as much energy as traditional Li-Ion batteries. A lighter battery would improve the range of EVs dramatically.
In 10 years, cobalt, nickel, probably would not be used in the lithium batteries. But it would require more lithium for sure.
BTW, CATL also invested in AVZ’s neighbor which seems have failed to find meaningful resource.
GLTA.
