Bob Carr's push to relinquish control of hospitals to the federal government could, if successful, be the beginning of the end of the state level of government. If they did lose the control of one of their biggest portfolios, and it worked better in federal hands, why stop there? In Bob Carr's tenure as premier, this could be his crowning achievement. I noticed Peter Beattie (Qld premier) didn't like the idea, because that could stop the state government gravy train that they seem to enjoy. I've never said this before but good on you Bob Carr.
