That is also my understanding. The ReRAM design involves new materials and patented hardware processes being applied and proven to deliver a new class of non-volatile memory performance, while still being produced on standard semiconductor fab lines.

On the other hand, Akida is all about applying new sets and styles of logic to various existing kinds of circuitry.

In short, different horses for different courses. Akida's logic, when exposed to SocioNext, would (I think) have been verifiable before the current contract was signed.

Or put another way, I believe SocioNext are confident that the logic will "work", the to-be-proven unknowns are about the actual performance in Edge conditions... power consumption, speed, ability to operate and learn independently, etc.

4DS is on the verge of delivering a successful and industry-changing hardware recipe which has taken over a decade to define and refine. The disciplines of physics and chemistry have been stretched in the process.

On the other hand, Peter has observed the human brain and then used logic and scientific method to write a book, start BRN, the company and now deploy Spiking Neural Networks on a chip.
