As a contributor to the development of the technology, I am obviously biassed. But I don't make a habit of backing losers, and genuinely believe that the technology is ground breaking.
SMA actuator based mechanisms coupled to networks using cunning electronics and software are a generational leap when compared with competing products - motorized or solenoid based mechanisms using contact-closure control.
As an example of the way forward, imagine the application potential of low cost, totally embedded locks and fasteners using wireless powering. No external evidence at all that a removable panel exists - the security application potential is huge. Nothing like it exists.
TZ in its collaboration with NASA is now the world leader in hi-temp SMA - a fundamental enabler for automotive.
Aerospace and defence apps have a long lead time, but can become cash cows.
What we need is no bloated overheads nor snouts in troughs; realistic executive remuneration packages; the right balance between R&D, product development and sales and marketing - and might I say it, forget chasing NASDAQ, artificial ramping of the share price or deals which look good in ASX announcements, but have no substance, nor long-term potential for profitability.
If the fundamentals are sound, good things will come in time.
