When Merkel was first elected she was anti-nuke, she then became pro-nuke and extended the licenses of nuke plants to gain political brownie points with greenies, she has now reversed that decision to gain political brownie points.
She is the ultimate, hypocritical realpolitik depending on polital brownie points.
She will probably reverse the decision sometime when the waves of realpolitiks is against her as power costs rise and become unreliable.
