MonkeyDex, are you sure of those debt figures? They seem inconceivably high.
Perhaps more worrying is the current account deficit. Remember Paul Keating's banana republic jibe? He was referring to Australia's current account being 6% of GDP.
I think the US is around that level now. That's a lot of smoothies.
