Telstra should buy the NBN. It's purchase would fit well with it's other assets.
The NBN was originally designed as a world's best infrastructure asset. It was "off balance sheet" investment that was always going to be sold to finance Australia's future infrastructure needs. Had the original plan been followed through with we would have had a world-class network. To complete the network would have taken longer but not costed any more.
Unfortunately Tony Abbott denuded this. What we have a is a 2nd class asset on which we are now going to spend an additional $4,3 billion to try to get it close to what was envisaged.
