    I don't think you understand what fibre Internet can do. It's exactly like rolling out the electricity grid, because it can do the speeds which will support whatever technology drops in 2030, 2040, 2050, 2060. Speeds that can support whatever new technology appears in 20 or 30 years. 10 terabits, 100 terabits, 1000 terabits.

    A bit of forward thinking is required and I know politicians struggle with (particularly duds like Abbott and Turnbull). For them it is "will is make money next year, will it get me elected, and can we flog it off to a private investor".

    FTTP was a national infrastructure project that would have returned benefits for most of the 21st century. Instead, we have spent almost the same amount of money on something that is already obsolete and pathetically slow. Something that 5G will make obsolete within 3-4 years.
