There would be plenty of areas where 5G could be critical such as farming, mining (driverless trucks already happening), e-health (remote surgery), e-education and etc. Once users have discovered the benefits of 5G and its speed, the uptake will be rapid (provided the price is reasonable). Of course, your favourite esports will become a big new hobby. It will become part of life among new generations. And investing in Telstra is equivalent to investing in the future, imo.
