Fewer shares on offer should in theory increase the value of remaining shares. It is also money saved on dividends (i.e every single share bought back and destroyed should save the company 16 cents a year) so could potentially lead to a slightly increased dividend per remaining share, or at least make the existing dividend slightly more sustainable.
