I always thought a good tie up would be Origin -TPG and Telstra - AGL. Only really SingTel Optus and Amaysim really bundled a telco with a energy retailer, I still do not understand why AGL and Telstra have not tied the knot and why Origin and TPG have not tied the knot.
Telstra joining up with News Corp has not worked. it would be like Nine Entertainment Group and TPG joining together so the News Corp Telstra JV FoxTel has been terrible for Telstra and not so good for News Corp save for their transfer pricing and LPTs.
Telstra would be best placed to ditch FoxTel and go after AGL IMHO.
If Telstra did not have the failed JV FoxTel, it would have probably gone back to $7.40 AUD a per share IMHO by now.
