Update to this, in order to change downward to a mobile "basic plan" a customer has to accept a move to direct debit payment method if using the website/app. (You can still call/contact them to use a different method, it's just another hurdle/nudge).
Interesting product price changes and payment terms. My interpretation is that Telstra will want to shore up its payments by automating them and increase the predicability of these cashflows. It's not a bad idea from a business point of view.
From a consumer's point of view, it depends on outlook of these payment method/terms whether it's convenient or intrusive.
