As of mid October, "tens of thousands" of Optus customers have already registered to be part of a "giant Class Action" (being lodged by Maurice Blackburn & Slater & Gordon- both CA specialist firms) against Optus.
The TV news video also has vision of the very large billboards, set up over freeways, from Optus- saying "Sorry" for the hack"; & includes interviews with disgruntled customers- who say they have left Optus, & joined Telstra.
This is very bad publicity for Optus, & will encourage many more to abandon Optus- many can be expected to switch to TLS.
The court case itself will be well publicised in the mainstream media; & will probably take 1-2 year. This ongoing bad publicity will be very damaging for Optus reputation, & encourage many more to defect to other telcos. TLS will, IMO, increase its market share considerably.
