The 3b is to convert adsl, to fibre, not 5g mobile. ADSL has already been bought from TLS back in Turnbulls days.
5g and 6g to come competes with nbn given the improved latency and throughput speeds but is volume limited and backhaul falls back to fibre still owned by the telcos.
Wireless in remote areas use 5g as part of the backhaul givenlow volumes but tech may have changed somewhat as my knowledge was BC (before covid)
The main issue i see which i am happty to be updated with is Starlink replacing wholesale supplier (nbn) for these links. NBN still controls the wholesale pricing, so does the TLS/Starlink deal get priced via NBN? I note also optus did deal with Starlink in NZ last month, so expect them to ann their own deal for OZ soon with voda, tpg to follow on their deals. Probably seeing the deaf of the old AUSSAT tech in realtime.
