NBN is just an infrastructure, people still need ISP to connect up the like of Telstra, TPG, Aussie Broadband etc..
NBN is done and dusted and payment contracts has been signed to payout TLS until 2047, roughly a billion a year
this is to access to Telstra pit and duct to run NBN cable, the government spent an extra 3bn on NBN is not going to have any impact on Telstra

The future growth for Telstra is mobile network and their infra-co that was going to get spined off but now decided to keep it (I think that is a good move)

Telstra has the best coverage and network in Australia and people will always willing to pay a premium to use Telstra network if data coverage is important to you (myself included)

They are slow to realise this but now have woken up, they will slowly jack up their mobile price, people will bitch and moan but will eventually still pay up
