Various senate committees trotted in expert after expert to discuss the NBN. All but one (who was a Coalition stooge) said the same thing "Do it right, do it once, use fibre".
That approach went down the gurgler when Abbott got in for political product differentiation. FTTN was always a very expensive stop gap measure. Money down the drain.
I thought Turnbull would have fixed it when he became PM. He should have rolled out FTTC then and eliminated FTTN. He is a very weak leader.
FTTC is about 20% more expensive than FTTN per premises, but there are many advantages and an easy upgrade path for consumers. Who knows how many billions have gone down the drain on FTTN. $25 billion in the bin on sub-par technology for political games?
