Grow Rich,i actually find nbn irritating and boring to post on.
The reasons, first the dh coalition sold it with no thought to how fixed should be roll out because that would have devalued the network and howard would have not been able to screw the mum and dad investors ie it should not have been sold as a money making monopoly machine. (keating started the sale also with no plan).
But it gets worse, almost as bad as pink bats,rudd/labor 'designed' (lol sry) australia's nbn ie a govt monopoly connecting 93% of premises to fibre. An absolute recipe for disaster. And if thats not bad enough rudd locked in the australian taxpayer to a 35 year cpi linked 'technology' lease.lol even the global tech co's can't keep up with technology changes every 12 months.
As has become clear due to technology changes, imo nbn will be written down maybe by 50%,sooner or later a govt will have to add loss to budget for legal reasons. Then imo cvc charge maybe abolished or altered, then imo ,and what should have been done from the beginning fttb/fttp/fttc from node where necessary will be the future but only in economical areas.
Taking into account tls was about to lay fibre to bendigo etc but cancelled once rudd announced nbn,tpg was giving tls some strong competition etc etc.So these economical areas may not be as restricted as many may think.
None economical areas ,due to changing technology will be/should be connected by 4glte/5g and if both sides of govt had even half a brain they would 'blackspot' such areas and clearly tls,and tpg would be interested ,with optus also having some interest ie tls 50% fixed market share, tpg approx 26% and optus approx 11%.
Obviously specific regional/remote will get 4g/5g mobile and we can use the 2 rudd nbn satellites for target practice once we start playing war games in space.
The problem being this would require another re negotiated tls/govt agreement.
As posted some time back, govts should not be able to make such lge financial decisions such as subs and nbn,and that effing stupid $200b fast east coast train unless the productivity commission and infrastructure australia approve.
This is why i don't like posting on nbn because it was an imperative piece of infrastructure sold by and designed by politicians ,and it will be politics that stop nbn ever becoming viable.
