5G is currently being rolled out but not as it is intended, they are simply upgrading existing towers, this is not how 5G is intended to work, 5G is supposed to move away from single large towers and work more like a mesh Wifi network with lots of smaller Antennas. Your driver less car or surgeon operating on a person remotely cannot afford to have drop outs or a congested network.
Also the frequency of the upgraded spectrum is extremely high and cannot travel long distances or through objects such as walls. It is a completely different way to how 4G operates and will take years to properly roll out.
Also Telstra has no advantage over anything other company to leverage on it, they are all in the same boat.
