GR,if i'm correct sometime back you mentioned crowdstrike.?.My point was only telstra ventures is worth trying to get a better understanding of and the only way we can do that is to research it ourselves because penn never talks about it.But it appears tls ventures is the only successful division within telstra and that maybe due to its ability to operate with more autonomy due to the partnership with harbour vest.Quote from mathew koertge co managing director of tls ventures we have a lot more autonomy due to harbourvest partnership ie we don't require the signing off by tls bureaucracy.Another quote from koertge,'the deal helped take the shackles off tls ventures'.
mark sherman is the other manager and they work with 4 partners.
matthew koertge put a value of approx $735m on tls ventures, not sure if that includes stillz ipo value.
hmm what would the value be if thodey didn't increase tls's position in ooyala from 50% to 100% then its written down $550m.?
The best figure i could come up with re the value of stiilz is they say 'telstra ventures has a 'decent stake in stillz after leading a 25m investment round c in dec 2017.?hmm I will be watching for ipo result just to see what the value of stillz is now, i think i read ipo value$3.5b.
This i also find impressive 'stillz estimates it will power over 2 billion casual esports tournaments in 2020 and facilitate $1.6 billion in paid entry fees for games hosted on its platform'.
ie prizes - cash, prizes and points.
There is obviously little disclosure within tls ventures, but many times i have suggested it appears to be well run. This observation was made when they took a position in TSM and mark sherman was interviewed..
Anyway for me a few searches and it cleared up a couple of questions re tls ventures.
lol i still believe mathew koertge and mark sherman would make good board members, but it appears to me they want to keep their distance from the dead wood tls board ie harbourvest partnership and its purpose.imo only.
