Ironically it's getting out of the Tech business. Telstra POP3 business email is ending (was terrible service sub contracted to MelbourneIT/ARQ anyway, so good riddance). All their other services seem to be just resold Microsoft services... at a higher price. I just put all my customers straight onto MS services, who needs the middle man charging extra fee's.

NBN... moving all customers over to ABB, they are still answering the phones. Landlines are pretty much dead, but ABB does those as well anyway if need be, for cheaper.

So that just leaves mobile phones. I'm probably going to switch over to Boost Mobile this month as Telstra are about to jack up my phone plan from $49 to $55 which they pretend is giving me "more data", even though I don't use what I already have. Boost Mobile use the Telstra mobile phone network, so I will get the exact same coverage, but the best part? It's almost half the price ($30 per month for 20Gb, vs $55 on Telstra for 40Gb).

People say 5G will save Telstra because it's going to be way faster. Well I agree... 5G is going to be way faster. But one thing you have to remember is the law of diminishing returns. Most people using 5G will be using a mobile phone, which means they will be using apps.. watching movies or similar tasks. You can already stream a movie on 4G. You can definately stream a movie on 4GX. So what is the extra bandwidth going to used for?

Well maybe they are going to use 5G for home internet connected to a PC. Fine. How much download will the 5G account have if you are downloading movies and files at 1Gbit/sec? NBN may be slower, but you can actually download as much as you want, so that has more worth than 10 times to speed with a data cap.

My personal opinion is TLS will go down to $2 by the end of the year. It simply isn't a growth company and with their now terrible service (not answering phones) even businesses are now dumping them.
