Where to now for long term investors of Telstra, page-9922

and therein lies the problem!!

yes it would have been good to sell earlier but no use worrying about what might have been.

question is if you sell now, what do you buy?

i hold many stocks that have done much better than Telstra over the past 5 years. But when I look at them now, I am not convinced they represent better value than Telstra at current prices - especially when looking for dividend plays.

sell Telstra and buy afterpay? Yeah could do that but might be risky. Sell Telstra and buy the banks? not sure about that. Sell Telstra and buy mining stocks? could do that but subject to commodity cycles so would need to trade those. sell Telstra and put money in a term deposit? - may as well keep money under a mattress.

No doubt we can all point to any number of shares that have done better than a Telstra over the last 5 years but it’s not so easy to find any that will do better over the next five when it comes to a one-on-one comparison.

so, may as well hold Telstra for a little longer because I see a lot more upside than downside at these prices. In my view, I believe the dividend is safe and even if it does drop a bit more, will still be better than a term deposit - if you don’t sell!!
