Quick question and I hope someone can prove me wrong because I have no time for Labor and Bullshit Shorten. Leaving aside the argument that retirees had planned for this for years and Bill is about to pull the rug on that strategy and cause upheaval for SMSFs.
But... If Telstra pay me a dividend of $1000 for which they have paid 30% tax. I claim the 30% against my own tax rate of say 0% and get the $300 back from the ATO. Isn't it the case that the original $1000 has now no tax paid by anyone because the $300 Telstra paid to the ATO has just been given back to me.????
