When AGL was $20 per share they made a bid for Vocus at $4.85, there was general shareholder outrage and the board got basically shouted down. AGL's investors couldnt see the value in a company with a brand like of Dodo.

Now AGL SP is $10 in freefall for a year, its talking of getting rid of its crap, Vocus is $5 with super funds trying to buy it for $5.50, Dodo has become the telco with lowest complaints per thousand customers than any other major Telco, or even Aussie Broadband (iirc).

There is value in a Telco and Energy mergers, they are both utilities, and there is convenience for customers using the same company for multiple services and brand loyalty for the company, but there needs to be good customer service to begin with.

AGL and Telstra could work one day, but Telstra needs a hell of a lot of work to repair its customer service, and AGL needs to split off its fossil fuel, Telstra is a big energy user so it benefit from its customers and generation.

But nobody at Telstra or AGL has such vision...
