where to now?

Given the officious forces and vested interest-groups that were at work in this case, one cannot help but perceive this legal decision had a highly political element. Such a decision might have implications for other companies disposing of assets in certain circumstances.

After examining the track record of present management, including the handling of the attempted demerger, one could also wonder whether the management of this company knows what it is doing.

Questions need to be asked by shareholders. What does CSR management do now? Can it appeal the decision (on good grounds) to a higher court? Can the sugar business still be disposed of, by an asset trade sale (without a split)? Are there any other ways to unlock value for shareholders in the growing sugar operation? How is shareholder confidence to be restored?
