There are obvious benefits for this welding technology in terms of cost, efficiency, safety, power usage and easier preparation, and from what I've read the ability to measure the weld quality. When you look at the industry disrupters, they can take 20 years before they start to make inroads into the market. That is not to say that all disrupters will be successful within a 20 year period, but there are encouraging signs of progress in the nuclear and defence industries. The "green" credentials for K-TIG may become more important as we move further away from the carbon economy.
