With oil, I think the key think is there are currently no known deposits world wide that can a) make up the shortfull in production/demand and b) replace the depletion rates. Cantarell the 2nd biggest oil field in the world is in serious decline (google it) and ghawar the world biggest field is in decline too (pumping 50% sea water into it to keep pressure up (although the saudis deny it). Thats 6million barrels a day from those two fields that needs replaces from somewhere.
Very scary situation coming in in the next few years IMO.
