The all ords index's are misleading because of the natural attrition in the indices themselves. If you invested $1000 in 1985 in the top 200 companies for example, very few of those actually remain today in the top 200, and unless you continually update your portfolio regarding each exiting and entering company then saying i could have made 10000% in that time is misleading.
