It is interesting to note that Matthew Gills official position,after the statutory period expired,was CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER [ACQUISITIONS],LIONGOLD BERMUDA.[copy held].The former chairman,Gary Scanlan joined the board of LIONGOLD BERMUDA,but exited about the time the company was under investigation by the Singaporean regulatory authority.It appears LIONGOLD BERMUDA,was raising funds on the basis of legitimate assets,[CASTLEMAINE],but monies appear to be siphoned off in a nebulous array of loans to associated entities whose registrations where in Bermuda,the Cayman and Marshall islands.For his part in this sorry affair,Scanlan was in the unusual position of being the Chairman of an ASX listed company whose duty of care as required by the Corporations Act,was to act on the best interests of all shareholders,however,as demonstrated by his authorship of what appears to be an Independent Expert Report in the supplementary prospectus,clearly illustrates his position.It would be hard under such circumstances for another company to make a counter offer for the assets of CASTLEMAINE GOLDFIELDS when the directors appear to be acting on behalf of another entity. The sad consequence of this whole saga is that we have given up a producing Australian asset for nothing.
