The Construction of the Puntland Livestock Quarantine (First Phase) Officially Begins

Bossaso, Puntland: The construction of the Puntland Livestock Quarantine first phase has officially started. First phase of the livestock quarantine project construction will be completed in approximately two months. The quarantine will consist of 120 livestock holding posts with each hosting 3000 head of livestock. The Puntland Livestock Quarantine is a joint venture between the Suleiman S. Al Jabry Trading Est. of Saudi Arabia and the Government of Ras Al Khamiah. The quarantine will be under the Jurisdiction of the Puntland Government (Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Environment).
The construction of the livestock quarantine will involve workers and engineers from Puntland and the Gulf States. “Once complete our livestock Quarantine will be an international standard facility that will bring order and fair prices for our livestock. The quarantine will be able to hold 360,000 head of livestock and the site can also be expanded to hold more” stated the Puntland Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Environment Hon. Ali Jama Farah during his visit to construction site.
A Delegation from the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia Arrives in Bossaso

Bossaso, Puntland: A large delegation from the Transitional Federal Government (T.F.G) of Somalia led by Minister of the Interior Hon. Mohamed Sayid Adan arrived at the Bossaso Airport. The Puntland Minister of planning and International Co-operation Hon. Abdi Salad Ali along with the Governor of the Bari Region Hon. Musse Geele and other Puntland Government Officials received the delegation at the Airport.
The T.F.G delegation also included the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Farhan Yassin, the Commander of the Somali Police Force Col. Abdi Awale Qaybdiid and His Deputy Bashir Goobe. The Delagation along with Mr. Bruno Marks and Mr. Sidi Sahabi of the UN Rolls went to the Carmo Police Academy to attend the graduation ceremony of 588 new police officers.
World Bank UNDP Delegation Arrives Garowe

Garowe, Puntland: Puntland Minister of Finance Hon. Dr. Mohamed Ali Yusuf received technical team of specialist from the World Bank and UNDP at his office in Garowe. This was a follow-up to the visit of the World Bank and UNDP to Puntland on September 14, 2007. The Puntland Government and the World had reached an agreement during that initial visit to assist Puntland in the following areas: management, economy, taxation, banking, inflation and port management
This delegation will be collaborating with the Puntland Government in developing ways to improve the administration and management of key ministries in the State. This includes assisting the Ministry of Planning and International Co-operation, and assisting the Ministry of Finance. This assistance will include; general auditing, central bank and establishing a finance committee for the Puntland Parliament. Speaking at the meeting, the Puntland Finance Minister Hon. Dr. Mohamed Ali Yusef said that Puntland Government is very much determined to the social and economic development of State. Senior members of the Puntland Government were present at the meeting held at Ministry of Finance premises in Garowe. The Minister of Finance also held a dinner reception for the visiting delegation.
