I actually think Africa is on the verge of coming out of the dark. Though "verge" could still be 25 years. Interesting to read Kerr Neilsen's thoughts on the impact of mobile phone on African economy, including providing a means of circumventing corrupt government channels. Kerr is S African, as I am (or rather was 25 years ago).

I'm sure you're right that there is some pro money in there, just seems rather meagre at this point.
