No its to benefit the reduction of emmissions.
Its also to promote an industry which in turn will bring costs down and increase technology so like solar panels on a rooftop its now a no brainer to have them, 30 years ago they werent cost effective due to the technology and scale of the industry.
Did you know the first cars ever built were electric, the problem was charging them on long drives, we st7ill have this issue now but the govt and others are about to roll out a lot more charging stations
