We are being proactive already, and have been heading down a lower emissions pathway for well over a decade.
What we need to avoid is things like ending coal and LNG exports, and shuttering local fossil fuelled base load power prematurely (and risk the scenario the UK and Europe are facing right now).
We also shouldn’t be looking at taxing carbon, or ‘incentivising’ the adoption of EVs through subsidies or higher taxes on ICE vehicles.
The path Australia is currently on is the right one.
